Buying a baby monkey is an excellent thought, but your budget seems too low. Also, we do not sell any finger monkeys and only provide information on them. You can look online for any deal close to your price range. However, remember baby monkeys can get aggressive if not appropriately cared and requires more attention compared to adult ones.

“Monkey Man Forever” That is one sweet username you have. Who does not like these cute little creatures; they are fantastic for the most exciting hobbies ever.

We agree to get one when older is better because you have the luxury of time which you does not get to enjoy at a younger age. However, with time, you may get frustrated as finger monkeys tend to get aggressive and remain unpredictable due to its nature.

Just in case, you need further help don’t hesitate to have a breeder around. Make sure to go through all the articles in this site to get a better understanding of this pet animal.

          Andrea,

Yes, you can buy a finger monkey on the internet from reputable sellers. However, there are a lot of scammers and fake sites trying to sell you monkeys that are not finger monkeys at all so remain cautious. I think it is legal to own one in San Diego but make sure to double check it as laws vary from state to state. Buying one from a breeder is a good idea but finding the right person can prove to be a challenge. I currently do not have contact with breeders in San Diego. Hopefully, someone in this community can help you out.

      Hi Mindy,

First, thanks for commenting. Yes, this site has all you need to know about finger monkey. You can learn all about these creatures here. Adopting one seems an excellent idea, assuming that you have sufficient resources for care.

Many owners give them up for adoption for many reasons. First, it is a long-term commitment (probably 18 years), so most owners tend to get bored, or likely get frustrated after initial years of excitement. Second, it is resource-intensive meaning you need to spend a significant amount of time and money with it. Unfortunately, with busy schedules, people do not have time for it. There may also be other reasons as well.

The adoption process is pretty straightforward as long as you are aware of the local regulations. Make sure it is legal to adopt one in your state with relevant authorities. The three possible ways to adapt these are through animal rescue center, online and local breeders, or pet store.

Nice to hear that you liked this read. Share this post on social media’s with your friends and spread the love and join our finger monkey army. Stay tuned for more finger monkey articles in future.

As incredibly adorable as they are, I strongly advise against breeding “finger monkeys”. They are most happy in the wild; being tree monkeys, not living in civilization. Like us, they also bond with their parents, siblings, friends. They are often incredibly close to them; more so than some of us are to our mother’s and father’s. Separating them from their families; tribe traumatizes them and raising them in captivity often shortens their lifespan and makes them feel rather depressed. I am not in support of “owning” creatures, no matter how much we may think we love them, for our sole benefit.

While I appreciate the full disclosure and concise information for consideration pre-ownwership; costs involved, etc., the domestic breeding and selling of “finger monkeys” is not humane. Please reconsider supporting this form of livelihood.

      Hi,

We think this is the most honest comment on this post so far. We can very well understand your emotions and feelings about finger monkeys. Most of the points you made are valid and genuine. However, that is just your opinion and others may have a different view.

One point you made about “raising them in captivity shortens their lifespan” is, in fact, a misunderstanding. It got proven they will live much longer in captivity than wild for specific reasons.

As you have said, we have disclosed everything a person needs to know before getting one. We think most of these tree monkeys get treated well despite being in captivity thanks to the strict state regulations, breeding process, people showing serious interest, and so on.

While some incidents do occur on monkey cruelty, it is far off to consider stop owning creatures as pets. It is just a subject of personal preference.

We always support this form of creatures and advise any person not to get it only for fun but make it as comfortable as they were in the wild. Spend quality time with them and make them feel even better but not alone. Anyways, thanks for sharing your views and appreciate your honesty.

You can do a simple Google search to find one near you. They will provide relevant information on the monkey you wish to care. Yes, you can adopt any number of finger monkeys provided that it is legal in your state. Disability is not an issue but it is more of a benefit in this hobby. It is because as you said you can give them enough time and love they deserve which they often do not get with people who adopt them just for fun but forget the fact it is also a living creature.

Nice to hear that you are willing to care for one of these little creatures. Make sure to do what you can do level best to provide them a better place to live.

You Selfish idiots leave this monkeys where they belong which also happens to be the only place they can get the food they require to be healthy not to mention the fact that you are preventing them from living in there family units as all monkeys and gorilla’s do.This is naturally ingrained in there DNA therefore essential to there mental health and well-being. In simpler terms you can understand whether or not they were born in captivity and only knowing there mothers and only for a few weeks they will ALWAYS feel the loss of both parents and any would be siblings, or if this is easier to get, just like human orphans always feel like a part of them is missing and ALWAYS wonder who and grieve for there biological parents as well as always wondering if they have siblings and never entirely give up on the hope of one day finding at least one of these people whom they have never met yet share an incredible bond. Haven’t any of you learned yet that just because you can do something or just because you have the ability to buy something that you want in no way means you should before going out an buying one of these tiny creatures that you will most likely sooner than later decide needs to much special care and require much more of your time than you’re willing to give up would you please at least consider adopting one if the millions of dogs and/or cats already in shelters, already suffering while awaiting there most likely fate which is of course euthanasia. We have an obscene number of abandoned and abused animals in this country with out importing more. That left alone would be neither abandoned or abused.

      Kim,

I know that’s a load to read but, respect your views and opinions about finger monkey captivity vs. letting them live themselves where they belong. You made some valid points and better alternatives. However, there are still some people who provide the uttermost care and time for their primate pet. Of course, you do come across irresponsible primate pet owners time to time as well. Luckily, stricter laws & regulations are governing the welfare of these little creatures.

      Hi Shaikhr,

Finger monkeys are mostly sold at European markets under the specific legislation. However, we are not familiar with Asian markets particularly their rules & regulations. We recommend you to check up with your local animal welfare authorities to see if it is legal to own one in your state.

Also, one more thing we heard from our friend at India who says there is a lot of scammers trying to sell normal baby monkeys as the real finger monkey for hundreds and thousands of dollars. So, provided that laws allow it make sure to get it from a reputable breeder who has proper documentation and license to breed and sell them.

      Hi Lynn,

We think so. But, feel free to seek for a second opinion or check with your local authorities. Because we are mostly familiar with the US market and UK rules on them, tend to be a bit different.

I am being given a finger monkey, as a gift. and while it says it should be 2 or more, is it possible to keep socialized with only 1?

      Dear Kellee,

Getting a finger monkey as a gift is one of the coolest things that could happen. You are lucky. It is always better to buy two because it can create a bond and friendship between them leading them to be happier just as humans we do.

But, then again, it does not mean you cannot raise a single one peacefully and happily. As long as you spend quality time with your primate, it is possible to socialize with these and make these feel like it is the second home. Just make sure to care for and feed them right, and you both are going to enjoy the most beautiful times of your life.

Marilyn, your situation is understandable. As you know, the finger monkey is a costly investment. Maybe why don’t you try your luck at free adaption centers or possibly in rescue hubs? Who knows? You may probably find your perfect partner with no cost. But then again, there are additional expenses you need to consider such as shelter, diet, and health.
